Hire DVDs and games including playstation, PS2, X-Box and Nintendo Gamecube console games from MailboxMovies and you can pay as little as £9.47 for an unlimited rental subscription or you can buy a 'lite' package which start at £5.47 a month. Being able to rent games and DVD's at the same UK rental site is a big bonus for those who want to rent movies and rent video games and is the only UK online subscription rental company offering this. Mailbox Movies has very flexible rental deals allowing you to rent out from one up to five movies and games at the same time, as well as single rental pricing and limited rental packages offering 2, 4 or 6 rentals at a discount price. Mailbox Movies has been around since 2000 and has over 27,000 titles to choose from which includes over 400 console games to rent online by mail as well.

Amazon created quite a stir when they announced they would be entering the rent by mail area of movie rental but offer a pretty damp squib when it comes down to it. The Amazon UK movie hire service is a limited service offering a maximum of 4 or 6 rents per month for £7.99 or £9.99 respectively at the time of writing. Not bad, cheaper than the local video store but MovieMine does a 4 disc package for just £5.99 a month (a full £2.00 cheaper) and Mailbox Movies has been offering the same 4 and 6 DVD rental deal PLUS you can rent video games from them as well and it's more flexible and cheaper too at £7.47 and £8.97 respectively. Amazon does have a further ace up its sleeve however if you are a regular DVD buyer as all their rental subscription customers get a 10% discount on movies bought through the site whilst they remain subscribed to the rental service. If you buy a lot of movies from Amazon then you might find this works out to be a great deal...if not, then consider shopping around a bit more.

MovieMine offers postal DVD rental packages ranging from a 1-a-time to a fresh air shunning 5-a-time subscription and as always, postage is free, there are no due dates, no late fees and you can cancel at any time. There is no DVD rental free trial here but all new members get their first month subscription for half price which is effectively the equivalent of getting 15 days free if you think about it. Annual subscribers get a full month free paying for just 11 out of the 12 months DVD film rental subscription cost. Price here are around average for UK DVD rental shops online.
