Do I need a website?
Yes - you will need to have webspace somewhere in order to host your search portal. There are however many free hosting providers (eg Yahoo's Geocities) where you can set up a site for free in minutes and most ISPs come with their own free space too. Some Search Engines insist on a top level domain but most accept the free hosted sites.

Do I need any programming or HTML skills?
No...and yes. Most search engines provide the entire code for the portal page so all you need to do is to cut and paste this code into a blank page and away you go! If you want to make changes to the portal (if allowed) then yes, you will need to understand HTML etc. There shouldn't be any need though.

Can I search on my own portal?
It depends on the search engine. Some allow this, others do not. You certainly can not sit there clicking away on the most expensive search terms just to increase your own revenue however, even if the search engine does allow you to make searches through your own portal. What is the average earning per search?
Depends on the search engine and the search terms being searched for. Anything from fractions of a cent up to a dollar or more per search. The average is around 1-5 cents in my experience.

Can I incentivise search terms?
No. Never, you will lose your account. Most allow you to promote via paid to read email programs but that is pushing it and you need to be careful how you word you advertising (basically don't beg for searches or demand them and you should be fine!)

Is there a restriction on who can join these programs?
Some search engines restrict membership to certain countries and most do not pay for Asian traffic sent to the search portals. See the terms of each specific search engine for clarification of this as it is subject to change
